Ransomware Virus Prevention

  • Windows 10 seems to be the safest against the WannaCry Ransomware Virus, we can’t say the same for XP, Vista, 7 or 8. If your system can handle Windows 10, make sure you upgrade. If your computer is too old, at least add a few layers of security for the extra protection. ZoneAlarm works very well with Windows Defender.
  • Use Malware protection and a Firewall. Make sure they are always up to date or consider them useless. There are many different programs out there, we use Malwarebytes Premium because it gives us the best protection and does a great job at not eating up all of your computer’s resources during a scan.
  • Be very careful about what links you click on inside your emails. Make sure you trust the email source before you click.
  • If you frequent game sites, software, movies even politics, be careful not to click on links and ads that hover around your games. They could redirect you to a bad place.
