My game streaming experience with the MSI Gaming Geforce GTX 1660 Ti and the Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX 590. Which one do I prefer for game streaming and why. Let’s start with Shadowplay + MSI Gaming Geforce GTX 1660 Ti and work our way to ReLive + Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX 590.
(Note: Shadowplay works with nVidia and ReLive works with AMD. These are powerful free utilities that allow us to stream high quality content to Mixer. The stronger the graphics card, the better the performance.)
Shadowplay – MSI Gaming Geforce GTX 1660 Ti
The featured image is a screenshot of Call of Duty: WWII – Shipment 1944. I was streaming to Mixer at the time using the MSI Gaming GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. This card was a nice upgrade from my old GTX 760’s SLI. The stream performance on OBS using nVidia’s NVENC chip, 1080p/60fps/9000K bitrate ran like butter. Then out of no where there was fan noise. So loud I had to return the card. As it was a bit disappointing, glad it happened when it did and not when I am unable to return it.
ReLive – Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX 590
I decided to take a step in a different direction and try the Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX 590 8GB. It’s a nice looking card that should compliment any build. I used it for 2 weeks and I had to return it. However, there was one thing that stood out for me while using the ReLive portion of AMD’s software, the ability to connect to Mixer. AMD baked Mixer right into ReLive. This is a good thing! No need to use the more resource intensive OBS. nVidia’s Shadowplay does not give you the ability to stream to Mixer. Shadowplay has Twitch, YouTube and Facebook. That’s fine, but not if you prefer Mixer.
Final Thoughts
Comparing Frames Per Second between the two cards, the difference is there, but it’s minimal to the eye. (This highly depends on your game and it’s settings.) The Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX 590 8GB for $215 vs. $300 ish for the 1660 Ti, and the ability to quickly connect to Mixer with minimal setup is huge. I decided to re-order the RX 590. After a few weeks of PC gaming and Streaming to Mixer from ReLive, the RX 590 is performing quite well!
