Prevent Finder From Opening At Startup
Prevent Finder From Opening At Startup, is a question is a common question lately. Whenever you start your Mac you get greeted with the Mac Finder window. Why does this keep happening? Chances are Finder is not the first thing you see pop up. Wouldn’t it be nice if Apple gave us a visible button to turn this off?
What is Mac Finder
Mac Finder on the Mac OS is the equivalent to File Explorer on Windows. Mac Finder is how we browse the file system. Similar to Windows File Explorer, it allows you to move, copy, and delete files. It also allows you to launch applications and connect to network drives. Again, it’s equivalent to File Explorer (formerly known as Windows Explorer) on Windows.
In this post I’m going to explain how to prevent Finder from opening at startup. If you still experience issues after completing these steps, reach out to me in the comments below.
- Click on the Apple icon in the upper left of the screen.
- Click on System Preferences / Users & Groups / Login Items.
- Put a check in the item you do not want to start up.
- Click the minus sign.
- Restart your computer.
That should do it. From now on you should no longer see Finder pop up on start up.
Thanks for stopping by!
